Blog Tour of Darkness Falls by Krystal Wade

Hello lovely readers, it's Wednesday and it's time to talk about books. This week we have Wilde's Meadow which is the 3rd book in the Darkness Falls Series by Krystal Wade.

Happy endings are hard to find, and even though Katriona is in the middle of a war with someone who’s already stolen more than she can replace, she aches for a positive future with her Draíochtans.

Armed with hope, confidence in her abilities, and a strange new gift from her mother, Kate ventures into the Darkness to defeat a fallen god.

As a special treat for you readers we have the illustrious Krysta Wade here to answer my burning - if not a little random - questions:

1. What were some of the challenges - or what was easy - about writing in First Person Present?

Writing in first/present wasn't difficult for me because that's the way the story presented itself. I'd tried rewriting in first/past but kept stumbling into present. The most difficult part of my voice choice (no, I did not mean to make that rhyme) was convincing people that first/present was acceptable in the market. 

2. What was your query process like? (Was it a 'got it on the first try' etc.)

Well, the first publisher I queried didn't respond. So, after I waited through their typical response time and didn't receive a response, I sent them a reminder email and then subbed elsewhere. That publisher asked me for an R&R. While I was rewriting, I was approached for blog submission by another publisher. I told her I didn't want to write blogs and that I was more interested in authoring. So, we got to talking about books, she asked to see mine, I told her about my R&R, I sent my MS to her, and all in one day, I received a rejection (from rude publisher), an acceptance from R&R publisher, and an acceptance from Curiosity Quills. There's a little story in between here, but I wound up with CQ. 

3. What was the inspiration for the Darkness Falls series?

I didn't have much to go on. This image of a girl in a dense, green forest, reaching out her finger to touch something shimmering . . . that was it. Everything I wrote came from that image, an image that never actually showed up in the book. Go figure. 

4. Do you plan on writing/have you already planned more/are there any plot bunnies hopping around with your name on it?

I am halfway through another novel called Shattered Secrets. I'm hoping to have it out within the next year or so. 

5. What are some crutial things you do with your platform/marketing/selling yourself to you readers that you can share?

I talk to them. Anyone who approaches me, I respond (within reason). That's what I want when I e-mail an author, so I know that's what my fans want when they e-mail me. I make myself available. 

6. What is one thing in your writing life that you cannot live without?

COFFEE!!!!
