Your Mid-Week Update for 08/01/18

I think I’m going to take this week off from killing. It’s just not as fun when I’m not the scariest thing stalking the streets. You notice I keep my politics and world opinions out of my updates and that’s for a very important reason: it doesn’t matter. I kill without conscience; I don’t care about the state of the world so long as I can keep doing what I want. I care about the starving children in Africa and the global  epidemic of human traffickers, etc. but unless it directly affects me, why should I care?

But the world is literally on fire and falling apart around us. While I may not do anything drastic to help fix things, I’m not going to contribute to the destruction - as much. In an act of solidarity, I won’t kill anyone this week.

These past weeks have been a wake up call, though. I fear a world in which I am the least of your worries. And you should, too. I long for the days when people intrinsically trusted each other. It made knocking on the door and smothering someone to death so easy.

I suppose I’ve contributed to the mistrust in the world but my fear is instinctual. If someone is coming at you with a knife, or you read online that death rates in your area are higher than ever, of course you have a right to be wary of a stranger walking through your neighbourhood at night.

This? This constant state of fear and mistrust? It’s making life too hard. Not even considering the ramifications of murder in a world on guard, but walking down the street and wondering if the person beside has opposing beliefs so strong that they would kill or hurt you is a horrible way to live.

At least when I kill, you never see it coming and it is never motivated by anything other than pure desire to see the life leave your eyes. I don’t care who you are, I care if you’ll scream when I gut you.

Why is that not the worst-case scenario?

Now, I don’t want you to despair, dear readers. All is not lost and I am not throwing in the towel because of a few shitty people who make life difficult for all of us. I’m...lamenting a time when my job was simpler. As the world crumbles and burns, we as a society must adapt.

I’m not so cliche that I’ll make some metaphor about a phoenix rising from the ashes - except that I just did - but if we can’t go back to a time when I was your biggest fear, then let’s create the future we want.

I wrote it, and realized how cheesy it was. I’m keeping it in because the sentiment is still the same: we can’t go back to the way the world was - nor should we because as shitty as it is, sometimes, we’ve made some amazing progress - so let’s focus on the world we’re creating. You know?

Anyways, that’s my lecture for today. Be good to one another so that it’s actually a surprise when I kill you.

As always, dear readers,

Stay Safe
