I am now convinced more than ever that someone is stalking my family. Even Casey brought it up at dinner yesterday that she noticed the same car parked across the street after the neighbours have left for work - which is a whole other conversation about our neighbours' odd work hours and the exact number of parking spaces they actually need.
What's really odd is that amount of times others in the house have noticed the shadows and creaks in the house that aren't usually there. If it were just me, I could brush it off as paranoia; if it were just Casey, I could say it was just unfamiliarity. But the boys have both made comments lately. Plus there were those occasions when Jason told me about being followed to work. Someone is definitely stalking us; they've been doing it for months.
And I think they know my secret.
On Monday, I was standing over a 20-something college student I had lured into an alley with the promise of narcotics - p.s. the amount of times that has worked is troubling to me. Addiction and drug abuse are a real problem in this city - when I sensed someone watching me. Just the hairs on the back of my neck. I can't see anyone so I continued. As I finished slicing her throat, I heard shuffling behind me. With the girl bleeding out on the concrete, I searched the alley for signs of intruders but found nothing.
But I know what I heard. And I know what I'm seeing. I can't brush it off anymore. But I'm not sure what to do. If I had any tangible proof, I would go to the police. It's what a normal citizen would do and following the law is the best way to skirt it. If I found any patterns, I could find them and make them stop - in a way only I can. But I don't have anything. Just sounds and shadows. And it's driving me up the wall.
All I can really do wait. And hope their ill-intentions don't lead to someone hurting my family.
In the meantime, if anyone has any tips on catching a stalker, I'd love to hear them. I'm used to being the predator and you know how much I hate being the one who isn't in control.
This isn't going to end well for someone.
As always, dear readers,
Stay Safe
